Disneyland

An email I sent to my coworkers. Many were jealous. --------------------------------------------------- Hello all - I am officially back home and online again! I want to thank everyone for being patient with me before I left, dealing with my grandmother's services and everything else. I know I was flaky and I really appreciate everyone's support!!! I'm happy to say the trip to Disneyland was as wonderful as the preceding days were hard, so all is well. Below was my son's favorite Buzz Lightyear ride [not included in blog]. We spent almost 4 days between the two parks, and had a very interesting side adventure. My parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on this trip and they were selected to participate in a Food Network Challenge show. Yes...we will be on TV. One of our fun-filled days included heading to Disneyland with a "Food Network Challenge" sign before the park opened to have one of four chef teams run around the park to find us, interview us, and design and decorate a cake based on what we were celebrating, our likes/dislikes, and a particular ride in Tomorrow Land. I have never experienced anything more surreal than having the Tea Cup ride shut down for us to get on by ourselves, surrounded by a full-on camera crew to shoot us getting nauseous (or me anyway), all with a crowd of onlookers taking pictures. Then the camera crew took us to a nook near the castle where my son got to interact with Mickey for nearly 20 minutes... some serious quality time with the big M (never mind the cameras...) So our cake lost the challenge and was unceremoniously dumped in the garbage if you can believe that. (Losing cake pic attached. Winning cake also attached...you can see why it won!) [again, pictures omitted from blog] I have no idea when the show will run - probably months away. Even if it never aired, it was totally worth it. The rest of the day not consumed by filming or interviews, we had a Disney tour guide who cut us into about any line we wanted. When she couldn't cut, she'd stand in line for us while we did something else. She also had $250 Disney bucks to spend on us. I'm now officially spoiled and don't think I can ever go back!!! h
